The top image is at the Lincoln Memorial around 7:30am.  The next two are telephoto images  from the Lincoln Memorial looking toward the Washington Monument and Capitol.  After the National Museum of African American History, I went down to the East Building of the National Gallery where I took the image of the Walkway and the guard at the collection gallery.

  1. Susan--I really love the first and the last. the first, the juxtaposition of the human (small) and the gigantic statue is really arresting. I also really like the dark figure with the hands in the last one.

  2. I like President Lincoln and the seating man the most! It is almost as if President Lincoln is looking at him. And the boys scouts at the foot of the Washington Monument is a wonderful image with their flags and the American flag moving with the wind -- very nice.

  5. Love the Lincoln Monument! The enormity of the sculpture really makes a statement when set against the young women on the steps. Your last shot of the woman's silhouette set against the geometric simplicity of the modern art in the photo is terrific too. They are all great!

  6. 3, 4, and 5 really do it for me, #3 especially or frame filling goodness, color, abstraction. I am drawn to the theme of groups in public - this one sings. I like the capture of the on-its-way-to-becoming iconic grille wall with monument. One thing the AfAm Museum is about is context - how its entire design program plays with its place in scale /proportion, shape and form, style, meaning, color, etc.
