Yards Park, October 26, 2017

The "dinosaur skeleton" (my name for it).

While photographing it, I thought this building contained offices, but apparently not.

Through the glass at District Winery.

The "dancing" fountain.

Above photo shows construction at the adjacent"Clean River Project," part of DC's Water and Sewer Authority's effort to prevent sewer overflow into the Anacostia River.

There was a lot of construction in the area -- this enthusiastic worker saw me with the camera.

Really good info from Victoria Brampton re new Lightroom.

Here are some of my photos from the Wharf.  My canopy photo is similar to Lee's, but I liked it too much to leave out.  If I had more time I would clone out the branches at the bottom of the silhouetted chairs, and try to eliminate the black blob in the "Del" sign -- I couldn't find an angle in which it didn't block part of the sign.  The building with the curving lines is the Arena Stage theater.

Details and reflections on the wharf

For the most part details captured my attention.

Are reflections more interesting when the glass generates distortions?

I wasn't as inspired as Georgette and Lee--but here are a few:

This is from the newest Santa Fe catalogue.  Lots of nice reminders here.

Yesterday was a beautiful day at The Wharf. It was a cloudless sky and being near the water made the sun seem even brighter. It is an interesting place to visit, sit back, and relax for a few hours.

I ended up liking more than I thought I would. I was a little disappointed by the "high noon" sunshine but ended up liking the impact on the colors that showed up throughout the walk...LOTS of blues and yellows. Like the yellow tables and chairs on the rooftop lounge. Also lots of reds, mostly in tools but the one of the worker in a red tee shirt next to the red yoga signs was interesting.

One thing I always like to watch is people coming in with the look of someone taking charge, taking over, expecting to be seen...like the cops always do in the movies when they walk into  a crime scene. And who could ignore the photo shoot in the hollow egg? Or the lone diner in the fish market? Or the "balcony door" in the side of the glass building?

And I about lost it when a guy rode by on a blue scooter in front of a blue building reflecting blue sky from the window. And the multicolors in the fish market. And the young lady on a walk who smiled at everyone, even me, as she walked her little dog...named Layla June.

And how about those stainless steel rivets on the dock???  The last three are B&Ws, one of metal chairs on a deck and another of tents on the dock and a stylized canopy. And finally, businessmen solving all the problems of the world. A fun day.
